Small
Business Workgroup
In
New York City, 80 percent of businesses employ fewer than
250 employees. These businesses frequently struggle to provide
adequate health benefits-let alone mental health coverage-for
workers. Discussions at our 2005 Think Tank revealed that
small businesses can manage workplace mental health effectively,
but need the proper guidance and tools to do so. In 2006
we formed a Small Business Workgroup to define and address
the barriers and opportunities of improving mental health
management and resources for this category of businesses.
The workgroup's first project is to develop small business
resource guides for employers and employees. NAMI-NYC Metro
aims to finalize these guides in Spring/Summer of 2007.
