NAMI-NYC actively works to challenge and dismantle stereotypes and discriminatory attitudes around mental illness. By fostering open conversations, raising awareness, and promoting education, we aim to create a more inclusive and understanding world for people living with serious mental illness AND their families.
All NAMI-NYC programs incorporate anti-stigma efforts, but here are some highlights:
At NAMI-NYC, we assist thousands of families and individuals affected by mental illness annually through free education, support, and advocacy. We are the only non-profit in New York City providing direct support to family members caring for loved ones with mental illness. Families work best as a support system to people with mental health conditions when they have proper education, support, and resources. NAMI-NYC offers mental health classes, 40 support and social groups, family mentoring, and a Helpline in 180+ languages to New Yorkers completely free-of-charge regardless of income, insurance, or immigration status.
Call our Helpline at 212-684-3264 and we’ll connect you to a program that’s a good fit for you or your family member. Learn more at: www.naminyc.org/find-support. Our programs are available to New Yorkers and beyond. You are not alone.
