In 2013, my wife Sue and I found NAMI-NYC in the middle of a mental health crisis. NAMI-NYC provided great comfort and information through the Family-to-Family program as well as several key connections in the mental health field. I’m happy to report that they are healthy, happy, and thriving, and we largely owe this outcome to the role NAMI-NYC played. During a 40-year work career, I have been a CFO and GM at IBM, and a CEO at several Private Equity owned companies. In 2014, I joined the NAMI-NYC Board as the treasurer, and held that position for 7 years, stepping down when we moved to London for work. During my tenure at NAMI-NYC, I helped with the selection of and relationship with our outsourced accounting firm, NCheng, and am very familiar with the processes, and people involved. Also, over the last 10 years our family and friends have been ardent donors and supporters for NAMI-NYC, including fundraising for the Walk as well as bringing in Gala sponsors. We are now back from London and splitting time between New York City and North Carolina, where we co-own a small business. NAMI-NYC is incredibly important to my family and me. I’m delighted to rejoin the Board.
