John Maske

I live in Slidell, LA (a suburb of New Orleans) with my beautiful wife Ashlie, our dog Molly, and Ellie, the kitten we recently brought in from the street. I am an 11-year Air Force veteran and Tulane University graduate. I work for a small family-owned company in Slidell as an Electronics Technician. I love running, and New York will be my second major marathon. I am really excited to be running for NAMI-NYC and can’t wait to meet the rest of the team.

As someone who has struggled with mental health over the years, I truly see the importance of NAMI-NYC’s work. Fortunately, I was able to get the treatment I needed before things went too far, and I am a huge advocate of any group working to provide mental health services to the community. I think the past couple of years have shed a lot of new light on the need to care for one’s mental health, and helped destigmatize counseling and treatment, and organizations like NAMI-NYC are so instrumental in facilitating this. I am proud to be running for NAMI-NYC this year.
