New York, NY–NAMI-NYC is thrilled to announce the launch of our new Helpline chat, designed to provide easier access to mental health support for all New Yorkers, including young adults.
The launch of our Helpline chat comes at a critical time. Recent statistics reveal a growing mental health crisis among young adults. Approximately 1 in 3 young adults aged 18-25 experience a mental health condition annually, and nearly 60% of youth with a mental health condition do not receive the treatment they need. With the addition of the Helpline Chat, NAMI-NYC aims to provide vital support and resources to this group, ensuring that more young New Yorkers can access the help they need in a format that suits them.
The new Helpline chat is a confidential way for you to connect to a real person with lived experience and who understands, not a chatbot. Visit our website and click on the blue Helpline icon to start a conversation with one of our Helpline Responders. This is not a chatbot. You will be connected to a NAMI-NYC staff member or volunteer for live assistance, available Monday-Friday, 10am to 6pm.
Our Helpline is staffed by individuals with lived experience of mental health challenges, ensuring empathetic and knowledgeable support. Through our Helpline, you can find help navigating NYC’s mental health system, get resources and information about mental health services, housing, and legal assistance, as well as learn about NAMI-NYC classes, support groups, and other programs.
