May is Mental Health Awareness Month. There are many opportunities for public education and outreach. It is also the month of our biggest peer-to-peer fundraising event, NAMIWalks NYC + Mental Health Street Fest. May is a busy time of year for us. While we understand why many people want to hold their third-party fundraisers on our behalf during the month of May, just know that your fundraiser will not receive the same level of support.
We appreciate Mental Health Awareness month fundraisers, but we encourage you to consider holding your fundraiser at another time. If you want to tie your event to a mental health-related time, July is Minority Mental Health Awareness month, and the first week of October is Mental Illness Awareness Week and includes World Mental Health Day.
Note: We cannot provide individualized support and we encourage independent work on your fundraiser. Thank you in advance for your efforts!
