NAMI-NYC Welcomes New Board Members Steve Nadel, Barbara Spitzer, and Jason Tompkins 


March 20, 2023, New York, NY–NAMI-NYC is proud to welcome three new Board Members, Steve Nadel, Barbara Spitzer, and Jason Tompkins. 

“We are thrilled to have Steve Nadel, Barbara Spitzer, and Jason Tompkins, who will bring their deep professional expertise and unique lived experience to NAMI-NYC. We are grateful for their leadership and service to the organization and over 23,000 families and individuals who participate in our free mental health programs,” shared NAMI-NYC CEO Matt Kudish

“I care deeply about NAMI-NYC’s mission as I have seen firsthand how so many people have experienced mental challenges over the past several years,” shared Steven B. Nadel, an attorney and partner at Seward & Kissel LLP. Steve has over 30 years of experience in hedge funds, private equity funds, registered advisers and alternative investment products.  

“I’m look forward to sharing my knowledge on employee mental wellness with NAMI-NYC and hope to expand the impact of the organization’s Workplace Mental Health Initiative,” said Barbara Spitzer, Managing Director of Accenture’s Strategy & Consulting practice. Barbara has 30 years of experience in consulting and human capital management, including at Capgemini, Willis Towers Watson, and Ernst & Young. Barbara is committed to reversing the stigma that surrounds mental illness both across society and in the workplace. 

“I believe mental health peer-to-peer and family support programs need to play a more prominent role going forward and I can’t wait to help raise awareness of NAMI-NYC’s programs among New Yorkers,” shared Jason Tompkins, NJ/NY market president for Aetna with 25 years of health plan experience. Tompkins is passionate about improving the behavioral health care system and the overall experience for Aetna’s approximately 3 million members throughout the New York metro area.
